AN AMBIENT ATMOSPHERE INTERSPERSED WITH WARMTH AND VIBRANCY FOR THE PERFECT HOME SANCTUARY.

APPROACH

Nestled in a sleepy street in Ikoyi, this two story town house was designed with an emphasis on fluidity as a family unit as frequent hosts as well as individual spaces to recharge and be reinvigorated . The space suffered from a predicament common to Nigerian houses which is a lack of natural lighting  caused by small sized windows. Subsequently, the primary consideration was creating a spacious, ambient atmosphere which we achieved by using warm lighting combined with neutral toned walls to ensure the warmth of a family home. In line with this, we also utilized same tone window treatment for curtains and blinds to make the space feel larger and to amplify a sense of continuity and community.
Furnishing the house was achieved with a composition of both locally made and internationally sourced items with different textures such as leather, cloth, glass and wood to give the home a striking balance of both variety and symmetry. Drawing inspiration from the art of Ben Nwowu, warm teal and orange hues were incorporated into the space along with vibrant vintage pieces to tie the space together, injecting rich color for warmth and brightness, completing the aura of luminescence.
