LUXURY VILLA DESIGNED BY FUSION OF MILANESE AND AFRICAN ARCHITECTURE.

APPROACH

The project was a luxury villa designed for a family of four, on a quiet street in the ultra modern landscape of Banana Island, Lagos. As is our forte here at O’DA, we were called to design a space that would serve as a retreat and sanctuary for this family, providing calm and serenity in their home. The client had a taste for luxury. We made sure to infuse that into all our designs and inspiration.

At the inception of our work, the house was very modern, with a slight coldness to it. To warm up the space, we were inspired by the use of jewelry in the architecture of the Museum of Islamic Art Doha, Qatar as well as the National Museum of African American History in Washington. We drew from these spaces for their unique use of jewelry as adornment in modern spaces. We paid homage to this by creating laser cut bronze patterns all over the space as well as textured walls to give the space more character.
The scope of the project was once again extensive; a complete overhaul of the property from flooring to the ceiling to the lighting and the total procurement of all the furniture and fittings of the house. In line with the sleek and sophisticated design we achieved, the majority of the furniture and fitting were procured from Italy drawing inspiration from Milanese styles, accented with modern African touches. Marble flooring enriched the space with a very luxe feel, combined with monochrome detailing finished off with warm cream and beige accents with accents of gold to further warm up the space.
